Slow Notes For Fisher

about

"More gradual tones for contemplation in isolation. In this piece I wanted to explore Mark Fisher's notion of the eerie, to which he gives a dual definition: an absence where there should be presence, or a presence where there should be absence. It's based on a field recording I made this week walking to, and around, Kings Park in Glasgow during Covid-19 lockdown. Despite the sunshine, distance and quiet abounded. This obvious absence of people calls to mind Fisher's first characterisation, but I also felt the presence of the virus looming over everything so I tried to represent this with queasy sine waves. Proceeds again to Unity Centre, Glasgow." Mastered by Black & Red Mastering.
